Students for Justice in Palestine at UGA protest Israel’s 70th anniversary celebration

While some University of Georgia students attended IsraelFest, a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Israel, Students for Justice in Palestine at UGA stood nearby in protest.

The celebration was held in the Tate Student Center plaza on April 11 by Dawgs for Israel UGA. For SJP, however, this marks the 70th anniversary of the dispossession of the Palestinian people.

SJP members waved a Palestinian flag and held up a banner just outside the entrance of IsraelFest that read, “Israel expelled 750,000 Palestinians in 1948.”
